The only reference points we can use today to try and visualise Heworth Village in times past, are the Swan Inn, the  'paper' shop opposite and the church. A car park, The Metro, and Bus Stations have now all but obliterated the village. Try comparing the views on this page with those on the 'Modern Images' page for a bit of fun.  Heworth Churchyard is dealt with in detail on my St. Mary's Church Monument and Memorials site. The Swan Inn has some vintage prints of the village on the walls of the lounge and bar. All  the original photographs used on this page were in poor condition, and have been restored and enhanced in 'Adobe Photoshop'.
