This photograph of the
White Mare Pool was probably taken during or just after WW1. There
were ten white painted cottages on its left but they were re-painted brick
red during the war to avoid identification by Zeppelins. On the right is
Ivy Cottage which was separated from the blacksmiths shop by a small path.
it is possible that the lady at the door is Mrs. Brydon, the
manageress. |
