Derek Robert Prime was a Wardley Colliery lad and had a talent for sketching local scenes. As a youngster he lived in Waggonway Street. His father, Bobby Prime, was one of seven brothers. Bill, Tot, Bobby, Norman, Les, Jim & Septimus. The brothers had one sister, Sarah Elizabeth (Betty) and most were raise in 13 Second Street during WW1. Sadly, Derek passed away on October 4 1999 at the young age of 51. Derek's two top sketches 'Woodbine House' & Wardley Post Office' still stand today, although the post office became 'Barberz' a hairdressing shop in October 2002 and is managed by Gillian Chambers. The post office moved on April 17 2001 to Shanes General Dealers in Lingey Gardens
