Wardley Colliery Post Office in 1926 at Woodbine House which was built in 1888, and was formerly a public house known as The Colliery Inn. In September 1889, Mr. Thomas Robinson was refused a license to sell beer off the premises despite a petition being handed in by 96% of the residents. From 1911 to 2001 the Post Office at Wardley was managed by five generations of the Wraith family.
The Colliery Post Office was run by Elizabeth Brown and her daughter Jenny at Woodbine House from 1911. Elizabeth married Jack Teasdale and Jennie married John Wraith. When it moved to West Crescent in 1939 it was known as "Wraith's and Teasdale's". The paper girl is Jenny Gage  with John  and Jenny Wraith..
